A look at the authenticity of Jesus Christ
This is a confutation to the incompetent and caustic coaching of the documentary The God who wasn't there in this sixty-two minute film, director Brian Flemming attempts to disprove the fact that Jesus Christ lived, let alone was resurrected from the dead and that modern Christians are a hate filled, uneducated people. Due to the attention that Brian Flemming’s documentary received I have compiled a short list and find these to be comprehensive and inimitable points.
-The Bible was written over a period of 2000 years, by kings, poets, revolutionaries, prophets, fishermen, servants etcetera.
The fact that such a collection could be absolutely consistent regardless of time is astounding. -In a concentrated study, Hugh Ross, Ph.D. said “Approximately 2500 prophecies appear in the pages of the Bible, about 2000 of which already have been fulfilled to the letter—no errors. (The remaining 500 or so reach into the future and may be seen unfolding as days go by.)”
-And “the odds for all these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance without error is less than one in 102000 (that is 1 with 2000 zeros written after it)!”
Go to http://www.reasons.org/resources/apologetics/prophecy.shtml for a compiled list of examples of prophesies fulfilled.
-Jesus Christ was seen by over 500 people after his resurrection.
1 Corinthians 15:6 and Acts 1:3
-In Antiquities Of The Jews passages 18.3.3 and 20.9, Josephus Flavius, a first century historian and Jew mentions Jesus Christ “At this time there appeared Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one should call him a man. For he was a doer of startling deeds, a teacher of people who receive truth with pleasure. And he gained a following both among many Jews and among many of Greek origin. He was the Messiah. And when Pilate, because of an accusation made by the leading men among us, condemned him to the cross, those who had loved him previously did not cease to do so. For he appeared to them on the third day, living again, just as the divine prophets had spoken of these and countless other wondrous things about him. And up until this very day the tribe of Christians, named after him, has not died out.”
-Historian Tacitus wrote ". . .Nero procured others to be accused, and inflicted exquisite punishment upon those people, who were in abhorrence for their crimes, and were commonly known by the name of Christians. They had their denomination from Christus (Christ, dm.), who in the reign of Tibertius was put to death as a criminal by the procurator Pontius Pilate. . . .At first they were only apprehended who confessed themselves of that sect; afterwards a vast multitude discovered by them, all of which were condemned, not so much for the crime of burning the city, as for their enmity to mankind. . . ." (Tacitus, Annals, 15, 44).
Furthermore, for lack of a better depiction I found a “few holes in the bucket” concerning this documentary . I would challenge Mr. Flemming to look more closely at REAL Christianity, the images portrayed of hate filled posters and words are not of the Bible. In fact they contradict the things Jesus said.
Jesus said:
“For God so loved the world…” John 3:16
“Love your neighbor…” Matthew 22:39
“And many will turn away from me(Jesus) and betray and hate each other” Matthew24:10
“Do not judge one another…” Luke 6:37
“Anyone who believes in me will live…” John 11:25
“I am the way, the truth and the life…”John 14:6
“If you love me, obey my commandments…” John 14:15
Regardless, of the substantial amount of attestation it all comes down to
childlike faith.
Unlike other beliefs Jesus is for everyone, even the simple-minded can understand(not some high-handed unattainable god, but a merciful father), nevertheless scholars are still perplexed by the simplicity of a loving and forgiving God.
Jesus said: Matthew 16:15-16
"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"
Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
Do you call Him Redeemer and Friend?
Or is it all a fairy tale ?
What if in all your searching, you overlook the meaning of it all?
What if in all your searching, you overlook the meaning of it all?
“A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.”
Proverbs 18:2
“Then he added, “Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the
more understanding you will be given—and you will receive even more.”
Mark 4:24
